It's Time to Find a Fitness Instructor

I usually don’t have the time or money to spend on a gym membership or gym class, so I often resort to creating my own fitness plan by using YouTube and DVDs. Over the years I have gone through a lot of exercise videos, and there are plenty of decent workouts for women but it can be difficult to find a good trainer to go with the workout. The following are three female fitness trainers that I use consistently to keep me in shape and don’t find annoying.

1. Denise Austin - Yes, she is 59 and still looks great! I enjoy her videos because she does many different types of workouts, including strength training, Pilates, cardio, and pinpointing specific areas of the body. If you’re looking for someone who has a voice that changes with whatever kind of workout you’re doing, it’s her. But Denise is always encouraging as she smiles at you through the screen. Although some of her workouts may include some corny 80s and 90s music playing in the background, she places you in a scenic area for motivation and instructs effective fitness routines.

*Specific Recommendation: Pilate routines

2. Jillian Michaels - This personal trainer is recognized for her appearance in The Biggest Loser and Losing It with Jillian, and she knows how to burn the calories. She also understands how to be harsh and loud during fitness routines, yet somehow I still really appreciate her workouts. Maybe the reality of her harsh statements motivate me or maybe it’s because Jillian makes me so mad I want to prove her wrong. Either way, her workouts are intense and you will be sore and sweaty when you’re finished.

*Specific Recommendation: “Ripped in 30” DVD

3. Tiffany Rothe - The word continues to get out about this fitness trainer who was really introduced through YouTube. Her workouts are usually short so that you can easily do them at random times throughout the day, but she also asks that you do them three times in a row to get better results. From abs and legs to arms, she uses creative methods to work muscles in your body you never knew you had. Tiffany is calm and firm in her instruction, using some encouragement and real life people to motivate you through a routine.

*Specific recommendation: lower ab workouts

Perhaps none of these female fitness trainers appeal to you and that’s okay. But I encourage you to find two or three instructors that are good motivators and aren’t annoying in addition to them having effective routines. Don’t use the excuse that you have no money or time to go to the gym, and do a workout from home with a personal trainer of your own.
